She known for her breakout role on the television series Wildfire as Kris Furillo and also appeared in the movie Mojave. Prior to Walker she previous was on the CW's Supernatural alongside her husband mainly playing the role of Ruby.
In 2020, Genevieve was offered the role of Emily Walker in Walker by show creator and showrunner, Anna Fricke. Gen's husband, Jared Padalecki, had recently been cast as the titular character Cordell Walker. Gen wanted to make sure that Emily was very different from herself, and that audiences didn't read into the parts as it just being "Gen and Jared", but rather, Emily and Walker's story.
She was born in San Francisco, California. She has two brothers, Johnny and Ben, and a sister, Sarah. At the age of 13, she moved to Montana, and later to Sun Valley, Idaho. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama from the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. On February 27, 2010, she married her co-star Jared Padalecki. She gave birth to their first child, a son named Thomas Colton Padalecki, on March 19, 2012. On July 21, 2013, via Jared's twitter, it was confirmed that the couple were expecting their second child: Austin Shepherd Padalecki was born on December 22, 2013. On March 17, 2017, the couple welcomed their first daughter and third child, Odette Elliott Padalecki.
Following the birth of her first child in 2012, Genevieve retired from acting for several years to focus on motherhood.
